CELLAID objectives and major achievements
One of the most important research objectives of the 21st century is the development of curative therapies for autoimmune diseases. In order to assemble and promote European expertises in rheumatology, clinical and basic immunology as well as technology, the project CELLAID has been established.
The European Commission has provided financial support for initiation of 3 symposia for the evaluation of potentials and perspectives of cell based therapies in autoimmune diseases. We established a pan-European and multidisciplinary network of experts from research, clinics, and industry to foster interaction and innovation in the field. The three symposia focused on cellular concepts of immunotherapies for autoimmune diseases and their translation into clinical applications.
Funded by the European Commission, the focus of CELLAID is to define research demands relevant for the priorities of the upcoming 7th Framework Programme.
